I am having anxiety for not vaccinating her even though I KNOW the m-protein is accurate and it would be unsafe to actually give her the (modified live!) vaccine. But it feels so wrong LOL!Clover Ledge Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03980479474173795906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017666900837094302.post-90069273154017324372018-03-13T12:43:15.362-04:002018-03-13T12:43:15.362-04:00I always get the strangles vaccine because neither...I always get the strangles vaccine because neither of my horses have had it and there's always a breakout in NS it seems. I don't do it at the same time as the shots to not overtax their systems! Yeah, so many horses can get some level of reaction for sure. I'm always worried about getting it on me. I usually make my husband hold the horses so that I don't need to be anywhere near it. This year he had to leave and I had to hold Levi so hopefully I didn't get any on me.Olivia @ DIY Horse Ownershiphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16138490796669110523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017666900837094302.post-7410318896726273212018-03-12T12:41:37.109-04:002018-03-12T12:41:37.109-04:00Ah yes, one time in college I ingested a fair amou...Ah yes, one time in college I ingested a fair amount of strangles vaccine and horse boogers. Boo. My friends QH always got colic-y after getting vaccinated so they had to be pretty careful, strangles and pigeon fever were too things that inevitably always swung around our part of the state.L.Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05052638724440787772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017666900837094302.post-36128183665796309342018-03-12T11:02:31.291-04:002018-03-12T11:02:31.291-04:00And for the record, I didn't know much about t...And for the record, I didn't know much about the m-protein test either! Most folks are pretty good at immediate quarantine, but it still makes me nervous. I personally have only dealt with strangles once, back as a kid at the Morgan barn when strangles blew through the barn. I remember that dealing with the snot and abscesses were horrifyingly gross and amazing hahaha. Nothing like cleaning out pus from a draining abscess on the jaws of horses *puke* haha!Clover Ledge Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03980479474173795906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017666900837094302.post-8114824330259293522018-03-12T10:59:24.164-04:002018-03-12T10:59:24.164-04:00It is a good routine for my barn and so far, so go...It is a good routine for my barn and so far, so good! :-)Clover Ledge Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03980479474173795906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017666900837094302.post-28869373672411986162018-03-12T10:48:03.212-04:002018-03-12T10:48:03.212-04:00We don't see a lot of strangles here (knock on...We don't see a lot of strangles here (knock on wood) so I never knew that about the m protein test.
