Hidden Brook Farm Dressage Schooling Show - June 2, 2019

Ellie and I did a show at our lesson barn this past weekend instead of taking a lesson.  I would have done a lesson on Saturday before the show, but my instructor went to NEDA Spring with her eldest daughter, who was able to get her last Grand Prix score for her USDF Gold Medal!!!  So that is a good reason to not be able to lesson haha.

I admit I was a little bummed about our low scores at the SMDA show two weeks prior.  I know a score of 6 (60%) is called satisfactory, but I really thought our performance was better than a low 60%.
I was determined to ride well and even though Beth was not there, I had her youngest daughter as my back up if the wheels fell off the bus LOL!  She was already in the warmup and at the show ring with her actual students, so it was nice to have her there to remind me to breathe and not hang on the left rein!  ;-)
Ellie unloaded and was totally calm.  Honestly, she loves her lesson barn and knows it is her second home haha.  She was much calmer tied to the tra…

THANK YOU!

Thank you all for your ideas and comments about Snappy's frustrating hard keeping tendencies.  I appreciate hearing what has worked for others, because while we all know each horse reacts differently to feeds and supplements, sometimes you just need ideas!

Late afternoon autumn sun
At this point, I have started to switch her over to Triple Crown Complete (from Senior) and she will stay on the Nutrena Empower Boost (rice bran pellets).  I also added in alfalfa pellets for fiber, though she is NOT crazy about them and always leaves about 1/2 pound behind.  I will continue aloe vera juice (ulcers) and her Smartpak (SmartGut Ultra and Buteless pellets) as always and will add in Cocosoya oil as well once it arrives.  I now have her stall and pasture hay in haynets, and I am already seeing her eat more though still not as much as I'd like to see.

We have had gorgeous autumn sunsets!

Any of you who feed Cocosoya have a good resource from which to order?  I paid exactly $24.95 for a gallon with free shipping from Smartpak.  I ordered it today 10/12 and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow!!!

  1. Valley Vet is where I get my Cocosoya. I'm pretty sure they priced out the best - I get 5 gal at a time (basically a years supply for us) and VV don't rip you off on shipping of large items. It's good to order the pump dispenser too. Good luck!

  2. I'm curious to hear sources for cocosoya oil too, I have never seen that anywhere around me!
