Wentworth Hunter Pace - June 6, 2021

After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time!  most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. She kicked Jester right in the front leg just about halfway through the ride, and while the cut itself ended up not being a big deal in the...

Bloghop: Favorites of 2018

Thanks to Amanda for starting a fun little bloghop! Favorite Show Picture This is from our first dressage show ever , in May at our lesson barn.  It is a crappy screenshot from a video, but I love how Ellie looks like a proper little dressage pony!  Sadly, there were no photographers at any of the shows we did this year, so I was unable to purchase professional photos. Favorite Non-Show Picture This is such a sweet photo of my three year old son and Ellie.  She is so kind and this photo exemplifies her personality. Favorite Thing You Bought I don't know if I have a favorite thing, but for this blog post it would be my pretty blue AA Platinum MotionLite show coat .  The coat is such a great color and just different enough to stand out in a good way.  Also, it is so super comfortable and breathable, it is the best show coat I have ever worn.  I splurged and bought the hunter green as well.   Favorite Moment on Horseback Th...

25 Questions Blog Hop

I finally have time to sit down and join the latest blog hop from Amanda at The $900 Facebook Pony . I have kind of missed NaBloPoMo from last year , but blog hops are just as fun (and less work than posting for 30 days straight for this busy mama haha!) Why horses? Why not a sane sport, like soccer or softball or curling? That is a darn good question LOL! I don't really remember what first sparked my intense love of all things equine, but I remember begging for almost a year to start riding lessons. At age six, my parents finally indulged me, and I haven't looked back going on thirty four years this spring! being a little lesson kid What was your riding “career” like as a kid? I was a religious barn rat as a kid! I spent every single Saturday at the barn, doing chores and mucking stalls. I was lucky to start riding at a Morgan breeding farm and rode there until I went to college. I took an hour long group lesson every week at 3pm and went home afterwards. ...

30 Facts About Me: A (Reluctant) Blog Hop

I have been enjoying everyone else's 30 Facts blog hop, inspired by May As Well Event, but I admit I have not wanted to join in on the fun haha.  Writing thirty interesting facts about me seem rather uninteresting, but then I realize I don't have much else to write right now except about Ellie being fun to hack around in the snow (*yawn*) so I finally just started writing.  And it took me quite a while to finish all thirty haha.  I was stuck after writing the first eleven for several days because I just couldn't think of things about myself to write.  It took me almost four weeks to get this finished!   With added memes for your enjoyment 1.  I am super short at just barely 5' tall.  I am actually child sized and have often been mistaken for a student when I worked in high schools.  I am now at a middle school, and while the children are all still taller than me haha, I guess the increasing grey hair and wrinkles help me look older....
