After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time! most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. Lots of things have been going on around here, but I have been too busy to blog! LOL ! First of all, Reva had a reaction to her spring shots. Poor baby. :( She felt horrible and all I could keep thinking was how much better she would feel if she could lie on the couch and have a Popsicle ! LOL ! She had her shots on Thursday and by Friday afternoon when I returned home from work, she had a fever of 103.2. Famous last words of my vet....I ask him if we ought to space the vaccines, since I have no idea how she might react. "Oh, she'll be fine. Young horses normally have no issues and she is a big horse anyway..." SIGH Next year I will space them out. :P A dose of Banamine brought the fever down to 100 within an hour or so (which is her normal temp). She was eating, drinking, pooping, etc. just fine, so I was not that worried. But still, she obviously felt like crap. I made a quick call to the vet, just to check in.
