Wentworth Hunter Pace - June 6, 2021

After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time!  most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. She kicked Jester right in the front leg just about halfway through the ride, and while the cut itself ended up not being a big deal in the

Downeast Congress Photos

Well, I am not sure if there are enough photos of this weekend. I mean, the professional photographer did only take 78 photos of me. LOL! I was so excited to get a CD of all 78 images for just $129. I usually spend at least that on three or four prints! Now I have them all and can do anything I want with them! Some of these first few were taken by me. :) I will put the heading of the photo at the top of each one.

Here is a shot of Standardbred Row! There are two more STBs to the right, but my lens cannot take a shot like that.
Dreamy's stall is on the far left, then our tack stall, then McKeever's stall. As you can see, S is mucking him out!

Close up of our tack stall front and lovely banner. We had a table and flowers and all that....but with the rain and wind, we opted to not put it out. :(

Inside of the tack stall.

The great banner I had made for the occasion!

The banner I had made for my mare. Now we can show in style!

Hi Dream!

Here are the things I bought! A new saddle pad....maroon of course. Then I had it embroidered right there at the show! The treats were in the goody bag.

This gorgeous bowl was made by Laurie
Dombroski. I love it!

Here is my shirt and the cute bag I had made.

Here we are in Dressage Suitability. Dreamy looks great, but I am having a hard time sitting up because I am ABSOLUTELY SOAKED! I thought I might slip off!

Pretty mare!

Line up at the end of the demo!

STB In-Hand

Dreamy just "loves" in-hand!

Doing my Hi Lo
warmup/Easy Does It division. Not sure which photo is from which of the three o/f classes. Here I am looking for my jump! And so is the mare!

I am holding her face a little too much here.....getting ready to have to PULL her up on the landing do she does not buck!

There are other photos of us jumping, but she was a wild and crazy mare! These were the best ones.
Saturday night's
STB Pleasure Class.

WE WON!

Tears streaming down the face...

Crying!
LOL! If you click on any photo, it gets really big on your screen. Then you can see the tears! :D

YAY MARE!

Sunday morning's
STB Equitation Class.

Another win!

Victory pass!

And Sunday afternoon's STB Pleasure Championship

We are the STB Champions of the weekend! This is the other photo, same as the one on top of the blog. I love this one, because you can totally tell how MAD she was at having to stand. Classic pissed off mare face.

Vicotry pass was a little crazy....she is like WHAT IS THIS THING ON MY FACE???? The steward (in the win photos) asked if I really wanted the big ribbon on her face. I told her, "Sure, why not? I can stay on!"

LOL! ;-)
Ah, pretty mare! This was before we won anything, so I wanted to be sure that we got a photo near the sign. S took it for me.

The Standardbred Crew!

THE END! I had a blast! Hope you enjoyed the photos! :)

  2. Thanks! I am trying to look as though I am having more fun than my mare. LOL! I came around the corner and saw the camera. It was a natural instinct to smile, having been raised by a mother who took a ton of photos. Camera pointed at me? Say CHEESE!

  3. That's awesome. I totally saw you and you and your mare did a good job jumping. Do you remember seeing me, I was on the ugly appy that was jumping in the later afternoon on Saturday in the hunter ring?

  4. Sidetracked - Were you on Possum?? He is not ugly! :D Thanks...my mare was super nervous, so her head dropping/bucking thing was not fun...but we had some OK moments!

  5. I was on the infamous Possum. He did pretty well despite the fact that he really wanted it to be jumpers instead of hunters. We'll get there someday. Nice pics by the way, your mare is really sharp looking.

  6. Thank you so much for all your hard work. It was a nice weekend even though the weather was not great.
