After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time! most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. Southern Maine Dressage Association held their banquet on January 20, 2012. I was excited to see how Dreamy fared this year, her first year at First Level. SMDA awards are divided up by test, which is more fun than by level like the state banquet.
We ended up Grand Champion at Prix Caprilli, which I expected, having been undefeated in all five shows this past summer. We were Reserve Champion at Training level, which was exciting! We were third in First 1 and fourth in First 2. Yay Dreamy! Here is the link.
There was only one pic posted from the professional photographer that was there. I am not that impressed, as it just seems like an odd angle to set up your camera.......? Many of the photos of others were like that as well. Weird. Oh well, it does not matter. We had fun this past year back at SMDA since 2008. I did not do SMDA in 2009 or 2010 since I only competed in USDF/USEF shows those two years.
Prix Caprilli champions! I won a pretty navy blue embroidered fleece jacket as well. |
Our pretty SMDA year end awards! Go Dreamy! |
This Sunday is the state banquet through Maine Dressage Society!
