Wentworth Hunter Pace - June 6, 2021

After Margaret and I had such a fun time at the fall hunter pace, we opted to go again this spring! This time, while I rode Rejoice again, Margaret rode her horse Jester and had a friend ride Ladyhawke. All Kennebec Morgans!! Jester and Rejoice have the same dam and Jester and Lady share the same sire. Unfortunately instead of a lovely late spring day, we had one of the first intensely hot and humid days of the year. It was definitely a bummer, but the ride was mostly in the shade of the woods and we had a great time!  most of the fences were 3' coops but we found a small log and this hay to jump haha Until we didn't. 😑 We brought along a third friend who rode Margaret's older mare, Ladyhawke. She's a good rider but hasn't known Ladyhawke for very long and didn't realize how much of a cranky boss mare she could be at times. She kicked Jester right in the front leg just about halfway through the ride, and while the cut itself ended up not being a big deal in the

Day 17 - Your equestrian idol

I have never really been the type of person who follows and swoons over celebrities (except for New Kids on the Block back when I was, like, 12 years old to be honest hahaha), so I cannot say I truly have a super famous rider idol.

However, in order to answer today's blog hop question, I would have to say I currently most look up to Daryl Kinney.  She is the barn manager at Tamarack Hill Farm, owned by Denny and May Emerson.
This is Daryl on Union.  They're pretty badass.  Sadly, he had to be put down.  :-(

I was able to attend Denny's adult eventing camp with Dreamy back in 2013.  It was one of the coolest things I have ever done, and now that he no longer offers the opportunity, I am even more thankful I did it when I did.

I remember that when I arrived, I pulled into the driveway and stopped when I saw a girl come running over to tell me where the park.  OMG it's Daryl!!!  I laughed to myself when I realized that meeting Daryl was like meeting a famous person.  LOL!  Denny posts about her on his Facebook page all the time and she has a position to literally die for.  She has obviously worked hard and made good choices in her life to be in the position to ride such cool horses and end up eventing Union Station at Advanced.

I love this photo of Daryl, showing her reaction to finishing her first Advanced!
The best part about Daryl, besides the fact that she is a superb horsewoman, is that she is super friendly and down to earth.  She is definitely someone I was pleased to finally meet!  I love keeping up with her on her Facebook, her Facebook page, and her Instagram, not to mention Denny's Facebook.  She comes up here to Maine every so often to give clinics at a farm about an hour away from me, so once Ellie is ready, I'd love to ride with her!

That time Denny used us as the photo to go along with his FB post...hahaha!

    1. YES! I need to find an instructor close by (so hard when everything and everyone is far away from me!!) but for clinics or even a long weekend away in VT, I am totally planning to ride at Tamarack again or at least with Daryl when she comes to Maine!

  2. I think she's great as well! Love following her on the grey OTTB that she and Denny produced. I just love everything about Denny. He even has great people at his barn
