Recapping 2019

I had many great horsey experiences in 2019!  I am really pleased with how the year went overall; nothing is ever perfect, but both horses are sound, happy, and healthy, which is really what matters to me.

Some of my 2019 goals were met easily or with lots of hard work, and a few of them were utter fails haha.  C'est la vie! Let's recap!

Happy, health, sound
Both mares are doing well in this regard!  Dreamy will be 29 this year, and while she definitely shows signs of her age at times, she overall looks and acts much younger than she really is!  Ellie has really matured this year, filling out as well as mentally becoming more comfortable in her own skin.  As she will be eight this year, I feel like we have moved through the baby phase.

Continue lessons with Beth and Babette
This goal was met and then some!  I took almost weekly dressage lessons with Beth and monthly jump lessons with Babette. Thanks to the Morgan Dressage Association scholarship, I was also able to attend two clini…

Lemonade Award!

My blogger friend OnTheBit, who owns a gorgeous TB named Gennyral and leases a talented Appy named Texas, passed on the Lemonade Award to me! YAY, my first blog award! LOL! :)

THANKS OnTheBit! :)

As far as I can tell, the Lemonade Award is for blogs that have or show a great attitude. I certainly try to keep my attitude positive, and anyone who knows what it is like to juggle family, horses, and showing can affirm how much work it can be and how much of a balancing act it all is. And of course, I have always tried to be really positive and thankful for my Little Horse That Could, my Standardbred dressage star Dreamy, whom the blog is named after. And of course, nothing else cheers me up than my first love, my first horse Sparky.

Here is what she wrote on her blog as to why she awarded this to me:

STB Eventer over at Standardbred Excellence is making the tough transition from stay at home mom to working warrior and is still keeping her show goals up for this summer.

I am supposed to award this to 10 blogs, but to be perfectly honest, I only read two blogs.....OnTheBit's who just awarded this to me, and NowThat'sATrot's who was also awarded the Lemonade Award from OTB! So I hate to do this, but I am a loser blogger who cannot pass it on the love. So if YOU have a blog and feel you qualify for having positive outlook on life, then this is your award! :D

  1. I am posting this here since you would not let me post it on the one below:

BRAVO. A tip of the cap to you--there are so few people left who put the horse first that it's sick. I've seen terrible things in training AND showing, just for stupid things like a ribbon. I seen far more then my share of abuse, more then I'd ever need to.

Just wanted to let you know I applaud you for always putting your horse first, even when it comes to things like mud and a seemingly healed injury. We're such a rarity anymore. :)

  2. Thanks DIJ - I agree it is a rarity. :) Sorry about closing the other post. It was just ridiculous that this person felt the need to send me the two comments. So I refused to post the second one and then just closed it. I do not believe the person "has never met me". I think I know exactly who it is. But that is just fine, because if my post made people realize how they are acting, then it worked. :) Without having to use names. LOL
